I got this because my old 1st gen 360 died from the red rings of death after 4 years. my old one had been suffering from all kinds of problems such as disk drive getting jammed or it a game crashing if a disk was left in between uses, but the arcade worked like a dream and even excepted my hard drive from the old one without a problem. My friend recently brought a 360 slim and it turned out that once it started running a game it would actually make an awful lot of noise and also get pretty hot, but the arcade runs a lot lot cooler, still a bit loud during games, but cooler.
So if your trying to decide if you should buy a slim or go for the older design, I would choose either the elite or the arcade, and actually you can get an arcade plus a separate 250GB hard drive to fit in it (Link below) for £174.94, that's about £25 cheaper than the slim.

The Xbox is a brilliant console (but i do prefer PS3). I had borrowed MW2 of my mate because he had no gold and wasnt playing it. I was playing with my mates online and all of a sudden I heard this loud screaching coming from the xbox and it then turned it self off. I turned it on again and ejected the disc and it was ruined. The games did work after but hardly played it since that happened because don't want that to happen to anymore of my discs. Will be getting the xbox 250gb

By now you will have probably read all sorts of reviews of how it only lasts 24 hours and that it never works well don't listen to them. I read these reviews and when I got my Xbox I was extremly worried that it would explode the moment I swithced it on on and the noise of it humming would dearen me, but it didn't. In fact it's very quiet and only if you run it over 7 hours and put your hand at the back then it does get hot. I have had my Xbox for 2 weeks and have been using it alot and it still works perfectly.
to cut a long story short there's nothing wrong with it
AND IT IS 1000000000000 TIMES BETTER THAN A PS3 ( playstation 3 )
